read moreThe Aquatics and Recreation Victoria (ARV) EMERGENT leadership program is returning for 2024, offering a dynamic professional development program for Victorian Aquatics, Recreation a nd Leisure industry emerging leaders.
ARV notes “the program is designed to grow the next generation of leaders in our industry - and is tailored to the unique environment working in aquatics and recreation presents.
“ARV’s vision for EMERGENT is to develop leaders from across the sector who have the passion and drive to contribute to the growth and success of the sector across Victoria.
“The 2024 EMERGENT program will be our third time delivering this program, with learnings and innovations from the two previous programs implemented to ensure this year's program is the best yet.”
Kathy Parton, ARV Chief Executive enthused “ARV is thrilled to deliver EMERGENT for the third time. This program is an exclusive opportunity for emerging leaders to develop new leadership skills, behaviours and mindsets to shape the future of our industry. ARV is excited to work with aspiring leaders who are committed to drive organisational success and positively impact the Victorian Aquatic & Recreation industry.”
EMERGENT has the following two key offerings that ARV consider “sets it apart from other leadership and professional development opportunities”.
1. External mentors
Participants are mentored through the 8-month program by a senior leader in the Victorian Aquatics and Recreation industry who is experienced and established in their role. Most importantly, participants are paired with a mentor from outside their organisation. This allows participants (and mentors alike) to learn from each other, gain new insights, discuss different ways of approaching situations, speak candidly about internal/personal challenges, and identify opportunities for growth.
2. Engage with Participants from across the industry
EMERGENT brings together participants from across the industry including those working for management companies, local governments, LG enterprises, private swim schools and peak bodies. By bringing together participants from such diverse backgrounds and experiences, the networking, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing opportunities across organisations provides a unique environment to learn and expand your professional network.
The goals of EMERGENT are to:
EMERGENT 2024 Lead Facilitator will be Jim Plunkett, an experienced leader in the area of Leadership and Team Development. With over 20 years of experience in both professional sports (as a player and administrator) and corporate organisations, Plunkett brings invaluable leadership expertise.
ARV advise that EMERGENT is “delivered both in-person and online” and is “designed to fit into your schedule. With a mix of small group coaching sessions, leadership workshops and industry masterclasses, you will learn how to maximise your impact and drive organisational success across different teams and functions.”
The 2024 intake of EMERGENT is exclusively limited to 25 participants.
The cost of the EMERGENT program will be $1,500 including GST for members and $1,900 including GST for non-members.
Applications are now open until the 23rd April 2024
