AMPSEA releases program for 2023 National Conference
The Australian Mass Participation Sporting Events Alliance (AMPSEA) has released the program for its 2023 National Conference, with Australian long-distance runner Steve Moneghetti confirmed as the event’s keynote speaker.
After a successful distance running career, Moneghetti has held board roles with the Australian Sports Commission, the World Athletics Cross Country Championships Bathurst 23 and as Chef de Mission for the Australian Commonwealth Games in 2010 and 2014.
Currently a Director of Athletics Australia, Moneghetti is a regular at running events around Australia, as a participant, ambassador or often as a commentator.
He will open the conference addressing the topic ‘my mass participation events experience, Olympic journey, the 2026 Commonwealth Games and other stories’.
Being held at the Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne’s Albert Park on Tuesday 28th November, AMPSEA’s second Annual Conference will also feature addresses from:
- Jeremy Kann, Vice President - Global Partnerships, Ironman Asia-Pacific
- Matt Bisset, Managing Director of Race Roster
- Lindsay Reece, Director Sports Programs, Australian Sports Commission
Along with shorter presentations on industry developments including Women’s Events, Workforce, Security and Risk Management and Sustainability.
The day will close with a look at Event Accreditation Frameworks and Operation in Two Sports moderated by Richard Welsh and presented by Brian Roe of Athletics Australia and Kipp Kauffman of AusCycling, before AMPSEA Chair Chris Heverin addresses a session on The Future of AMPSEA.
