read moreThe Northern Territory Government has committed $600,000 over three years to the Redtails Pinktails Right Track program, empowering young Territorians through Australian Football League (AFL).
With a focus on job readiness, mentoring, work experience, and providing avenues to potential employment, the program also seeks to elevate participants' aspirations of playing football at advanced levels.
Supported by passionate and committed volunteers and coaches, the program is fostering healthier lifestyles, promoting leadership skills, and bolstering community engagement throughout Central Australia.
The Redtails Pinktails Right Track program operates an AFL program five days a week. By integrating sports with employment support initiatives, the program builds not only the physical robustness of its participants but also their social and emotional skills.
At its core, the program is about more than just preparing the youth for the job market; it's about fostering a sense of community, leadership, and personal growth. Participants gain invaluable life skills that transcend the sports field, impacting their lives positively in multiple dimensions. The initiative has become a cornerstone for youth empowerment in Alice Springs, offering a holistic approach to tackling the challenges faced by young Territorians.
NT Minister for Sport, Kate Worden notes "The Redtails Pinktails Right Tracks Program epitomises the spirit of community empowerment and resilience. By investing in this program, we are reaffirming our commitment to nurturing healthier, more vibrant communities across the Northern Territory.
"Our investment is not just about supporting sport, but providing an avenue for these aspiring athletes to enter the workforce.
“By empowering individuals through programs like Redtails Pinktails Right Tracks Program, we are building a stronger, more resilient Northern Territory."
Central Australian Football Club coach, Rob Clarke shares “This funding allows us to expand our reach and achieve our collective commitment to making a real difference in the lives of young people in Central Australia.
“Through this program, we have seen firsthand the transformative power of sport in empowering individuals, instilling leadership qualities, and fostering community engagement.
“It's truly heartening to witness some of these young individuals pursue brighter futures. With this new funding, we're not just investing in athletes, but in the future leaders and role models of our communities.”
