With the Tasmanian Government Public Heath no longer recommending limiting travel to King Island, Tourism Tasmania is working closely with King Island tourism organisations and operators to promote the island through a marketing program and build demand for this summer season and beyond.

Boasting two of the world’s best golf courses, King Island has a strong reputation for its accommodation, high quality produce, visitor experiences and as such is an important contributor to the Tasmanian economy.

One such experience is the King Island Pro-Am, which is a COVIDSafe golf event currently being held at Cape Wickham and Ocean Dunes courses from 16th – 18th January 2022.

The Pro-Am provides a great opportunity for golfers to play on some of the world’s best coastal courses and support King Island businesses.

Importantly, King Island tourism and hospitality businesses will be able to access the Business Impact Support Program and the COVID Care Package announced.

The package will assist Tasmanian small businesses who have experienced a reduction in business due to COVID-19 impacts since mid-December 2021.

Funding of up to $5000 will be available to eligible businesses, depending on their business size, and support of up to $5000 will also be available to business that experienced an unavoidable loss of perishable goods during this period.

Guidelines for the Business Impact Support Program will be available on Monday 17th January 2022 and the program will open on Wednesday 19th January 2022.
