The Bradman Museum has been reopened as the International Cricket Hall of Fame.

The International Cricket Hall of Fame (ICHOF), on the site of the old Bradman Museum, was officially opened on Sunday at Bowral's Bradman Oval in the picturesque southern highlands of NSW.

Encased within a distinctive, contemporary and flexible building specifically designed to merge with the surrounding parklands and residences, the new attraction feature exhibits showcasing the game of cricket as played around the world from the period of World Series Cricket onwards.

Located at the site where Sir Donald lived as a child and learned to play cricket, the ICHOF builds on the world-wide respect for Sir Donald Bradman, the former museum with its statues, portraits, busts, photographs and statistics of the âboy from Bowralâ is a gallery within ICHOF

NSW Sports Minister Kevin Greene announced $7.4 million funding for the hall of fame's second stage on Sunday after the first stage was built with $6.5 million of federal funds committed by then Prime Minister John Howard and delivered by Kevin Rudd during his Prime Ministership.

Speaking at the opening former Prime Minister Howard stated "I am glad it has attracted financial support from both sides of politics, because sport is a bipartisan thing that unites everybody.?

Bradman Foundation chairman Michael Ball explained that "Don Bradman would be particularly pleased because this is dedicated not to Don Bradman but to the game of cricket ⦠he was quite shy about his own achievements.

"The only reservation he had about the Bradman Museum was that it should not just celebrate his achievements but should be dedicated to the virtues and values of the game of cricket.

"As Donald Bradman himself said, may cricket continue to flourish and spread its wings. The world can only be richer for it."
