Technogym ‘Let’s Move for a Better World’ campaign exceeds all expectations

Technogym ‘Let’s Move for a Better World’ campaign exceeds all expectations
April 30, 2018

Technogym has advised that the 2018 edition of its ‘Let’s Move for a Better World’ campaign has exceeded all expectations, connecting a community of over 180,000 people around the world to donate physical exercise for a good cause.

Running for its fifth year from 12th to 31st March, the worldwide social initiative to raise awareness in the fight against obesity and sedentariness is the biggest social campaign in the fitness and wellness industry, embodying Technogym’s mission to improve wellness on a global scale.

Thanks to Technogym’s ecosystem and Mywellness, gym members in fitness facilities around the world joined forces to donate their movement and promote wellness and healthy lifestyles in their local community and beyond. The more active the users were, the bigger the donation to the communities.

Thanks to the Technogym Ecosystem, a unique solution that includes connected equipment and the Mywellness cloud, users can enjoy a fully personalised wellness experience, and facilities can create challenges among their members or with other clubs.

The new 2018 edition of the campaign has allowed an increased number of operators to win and donate a piece of Technogym equipment to a not-for-profit organisation of their choice, thanks to the new awarding system that enables every facility to win by reaching predefined targets of movement performed.

In Australia, Aquafit in Campbelltown, finished in first place with the club’s members collecting more than three million MOVEs.

As winners of the challenge, the club gets to donate $10,000 worth of state-of-the-art Technogym equipment to their chosen recipient, Magdalene Catholic High School.

Kristen Green, Executive General Manager at Aquafit explained “we are thrilled to finish as the top team in Australia for the third consecutive year.

“With over 600 participants at Aquafit registered, the challenge creates a great sense of unity and fun, driven by a common purpose, and the desire to make a difference to inspire movement.”

Key statistics from the 2018 edition:

• 1,033 fitness facilities across 29 countries participated
• Over 180,000 participants tracked their exercise on Technogym equipment collecting MOVEs
• A total of 628 million MOVEs were generated
• This represents over 263 million calories burned or approximately 37,000 kilograms lost

In addition, a representative from each of the participating facilities will get the chance to take part in ‘The Let’s Move for a Better World Conference’ at the Technogym Village, in Italy from 20th to 22nd May.

The conference allows participants to share knowledge on how physical activity can provide a vital contribution to building a more sustainable society based on personal health, and to celebrate the campaign winners during the official award ceremony.
