read moreThe Northern Territory Government has this week opened new and returning tourism grants designed to assist operators improve the on-ground visitor experience and attract more visitors to the Territory.
A number of grant programs are available for Territory tourism businesses and operators including a Tourism Accessibility Improvement grant, a Tourism Sustainability grant, a Domestic and International Tourism Distribution grant program, a second round of the Tourism Evening Experiences grants and the Tourism Town Asset program is also open for applicants.
The new Tourism Accessibility Improvement grants will allow tourism operators to apply for grants from $5000 up to $50 000 to improve their accessibility and inclusion offerings for visitors, with a total funding pool of $250 000.
The new Sustainability for Tourism Industry grants provide tourism businesses with an opportunity to reduce their ecological footprint, benefit local community well-being and positively impact the Territory’s natural and cultural environment, with grants from $5000 up to $50 000 from a total pool of $250 000.
To support tourism businesses promote their offerings to visitors, NT tourism operators can apply for a Domestic Tourism Distribution grant or an International Tourism Distribution grant of between $1000 and up to $5000, with a matched funding contribution required.
Round 2 of the Tourism Evening Experiences grants has a total funding pool of $50 000, with tourism operators able to apply for grants up to $7000 to develop tourism evening experiences in regions.
The second round of the Tourism Town Asset program has a total funding pool of $500,000 with local and regional councils able to apply for funding up to $100,000 to undertake projects that enhance main streets and/or town centres.
Territory Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, Nicole Manison advises “Territory tourism is in its most exciting high-season since the start of the pandemic.
“We are bouncing back with over 1.25 million domestic visitors already spending over $1.5 billion in the Territory, throughout the year ending March 2022.”
“These grant programs have been developed with industry and will help fill gaps in our tourism sector, lift the visitor experience and build the Territory’s reputation as a world class destination for travellers.”
“The Territory Government is investing $86.4 million into the Territory’s tourism and events sectors, to support our unique attractions, boost visitation and enhance visitor experience.”
