Shoalhaven Arts Board continues to support local artists and art projects

Shoalhaven Arts Board continues to support local artists and art projects
June 30, 2022

The 2022 Shoalhaven Arts Board Grants Program has awarded funding across two categories: Professional Development Grants and Sense of Place Grants.

The Shoalhaven Youth Orchestra, Headspace Nowra and Connect Sanctuary Point are among the recipients of more than $37,000 in funding awarded to local community groups, charities and schools as part of the 2022 Shoalhaven Arts Board Grants Program.

Professional Development Grants support individual artists, arts workers and small groups to build or enhance their skills and develop sustainable careers in visual, performing and literary arts. Sense of Place Grants support art projects with a public outcome that improve community engagement with the arts and enhance the urban environments of the Shoalhaven.

Shoalhaven Youth Orchestra plan to use the funding to produce a CD for the second time in their 22-year history. Business Manager of the Shoalhaven Youth Orchestra Ryley Gillen advises “the grant provides us a great opportunity to showcase and produce a long-lasting album of music that has been written, produced and recorded by local musicians about the region".

Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Amanda Findley congratulated successful grant recipients and thanked them for the contribution they make to the Shoalhaven community adding “now more than ever we all need opportunities for human connection, interaction and creativity. Each of the successful grant projects will achieve this, and collectively will make a big difference in the lives of our community members.”

Brooke Boland – Advanced Creative Non-Fiction course - $420
