Safety and Security at Public Venues and Events conference returns to Sydney

Following the success of similar past events and taking into account the current global safety and security climate, the Safety and Security at Public Venues and Events 2017 conference is being held in Sydney from 3rd to 5th July.

International conference organiser marcus evans is mindful of the current global security climate, with incidents around the world and the safety of patrons in public places being of key concern to Governments, security and police agencies, event managers, venues and others.

Among speakers at the conference, there will be a keynote address from Kitty Chiller, Chef de Mission, of the Australian Olympic Team at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

During the 2016 Games, Chiller made headlines with her dedicated push to ensure safety and security at venues and competitions in Rio de Janeiro.

In here address she will share the measures taken for the safety of an elite team of national-level athletes influence event management and venue security. Chiller will speak to considerations for a known dangerous location, a ‘perfect storm’ of media attention, and managing talent across various venues and athlete villages.

After Chiller’s case study on last year’s defining sports moment the conference will fast-forward to next year’s big event – the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, with a special talk from Graham Coleman of the Queensland Police.
