Program released for Aquatic and Recreation Institute NSW 2024 conference
April 19, 2024

The Aquatic and Recreation Institute (ARI) NSW has released an exciting program for its 2024 conference with industry leaders set to address key industry issues.

Notably, ARI has secured Cain Liddle, the former Managing Director of Aligned Leisure and Chief Executive of Carlton Football Club, as a keynote speaker. Liddle, who now heads the Incrementum Advisory Group, will draw on his leadership, consumer and commercial experience in his address.

Other keynote addresses will come from Olympic Gold Medallist Alisa Camplin, Olympian Chakyl Camal, Elena Gosse of AIS Water and Cole Cornford of Galah Cyber who will address the issue of Cyber Risk.

The conference will also include a panel discussion on the future of local government and university aquatic facilities as well as a CEO panel featuring Todd McHardy of BlueFit, Nick Cox of Belgravia Leisure, Jay Clarke of City Venue Management and Stan Wall of Lifeguarding Services Australia.

Other major presentations include Women in Leadership; ‘Enhancing Aquatic & Recreation Centres: Creating a Toolkit for Satisfaction, Retention, and Social Impact’, being presented by Dr Carleigh Yeomans and Professor Adam Karg of Swinburne University, and Suellen Goyne and Ben Maddox of Maitland City Council who will address how the Council is using data to drive sustainability - a topic covered in a feature in the latest edition of Australasian Leisure Management magazine.

The event also includes breakout streams on Emergency Response and Safety, and Diversity, Access and Inclusion along with a meeting of the ARI Young Industry Leaders Panel.

Taking place from 19th to 21st May 2024 at West HQ, early bird registrations for the ARI NSW’s 58th Annual Conference and Trade Show are open until Friday 26th April 2024.

Cain Liddle
After 15 years managing and operating some of Victoria’s largest leisure facilities, Cain Liddle spent eight years at the Richmond Football Club in the dual role of Chief Customer Officer and Managing Director - Aligned Leisure, one of Australian sports most successful business diversifications.

After four years as the Chief Executive of Carlton Football Club, Liddle now consults to some of the country’s biggest sports, sporting clubs, universities and local governments, using his leadership, consumer and commercial experience to unlock opportunities and drive growth for his clients.

ARI NSW welcomes AUSTSWIM as a Gold Sponsor

Commenting on the continuation of AUSTSWIM’s support. ARI NSW Chairperson, Marco Blanco advised “ARI NSW welcomes and thanks AUSTSWIM for their continued support and look forward to working collaboratively to connect the NSW Aquatic and Recreation sector to support industry and local communities.
