read moreDespite challenges in the insurance market, Brisbane-based Cornerstone Risk Group was an exhibitor at the recent 2023 AUSFitness Expo, promoting its industry products and "insurance solutions" for gyms and fitness centres; Pilates, yoga and martial arts studios; amusement and leisure centres and indoor play centres.
Advising "we are experience in managing the kind of risks that come with running a business like yours" Cornerstone's promotion emphasised its specialty in the fitness industry".
The brokerage firm offers a range of insurance products designed to protect the assets and liabilities of fitness and recreation businesses, including public liability, property damage, professional indemnity, personal accident and workers' compensation insurance.
It advises that its "team has extensive experience in the fitness and leisure industry and works closely with clients to understand their specific risks and insurance needs. (We) aim to provide tailored insurance solutions that protect businesses and give them peace of mind."
With the Group’s website and media releases saying the firm is “renowned for taking on tough risks”, Cornerstone’s Director, Scott Mitchell told Insurance Business last year "we’re open to looking at all types of risks and businesses and essentially, Cornerstone is persistent, we won’t shy away from a challenging placement.
“Just because a business sounds complex and is complex, doesn’t mean it is too complex for us to consider."
Last year the group grew with the acquisition of three south east Queensland brokers.
From three reviews on Google, the company has a 3.7 rating.
While two reviews praise its work, one, from the middle of 2022, states "Cornerstone Risk Group sponsors a greyhound racing track where 154 dogs were injured in 2021. If you care about the welfare of dogs, please consider whether you should be supporting this company."
In response, the company advises that it is no longer a sponsor of the race track.
Cornerstone declined to speak with Australasian Leisure Management.
