Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort offers eco-conscious experience for Valentine’s Day

Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort offers eco-conscious experience for Valentine’s Day
February 12, 2020

Pioneering hospitality company, Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort, is inviting eco-conscious guests to immerse themselves in nature this Valentine’s Day, with a one-of-a-kind adventure that includes the opportunity to adopt and release their very own clownfish.

In keeping with its deeply held sustainable beliefs, the resort is focusing on meaningful gestures that proactively contribute to the marine environment, rather than traditional flowers and chocolates.

From February, couples are invited to visit the resort’s Marine Discovery Centre, a unique environmental facility that is dedicated to the conservation of Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi National Park, the vast tropical reserve that surrounds the Phi Phi Islands. Led by the resort’s resident marine biologist, Kasama “Bom” Nualsri, this eco hub operates many important projects, including coral preservation, breeding and release programs.

For the first time, Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort is allowing couples to adopt their own “Nemo” as a symbol of their everlasting love. For AUS$850 net per couple, guests will be able to choose and name their clownfish, and when the fish is strong enough, travel out by long-tail boat to release it on the anemone coral reef. Each couple will also receive a certificate of appreciation and will be named on the donor recognition wall in the Marine Discovery Centre.

Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort currently breeds around ten clownfish babies per month, but the team is aiming to increase this number in 2020 to contribute to a healthier and more vibrant marine ecosystem. The proceeds from this adoption initiative will enable Khun Bom and his assistants to ramp up their vital work.

Chao Treenawong, General Manager of Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort explained “with 70 acres of lush landscaped gardens and an 800-metre-long stretch of powder-soft sand, Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort is the ultimate romantic retreat. But our green-hearted guests are no longer content with traditional tourist experiences – they want to have a positive impact on their destination.

“Through our Marine Discovery Centre, we allow travellers to learn about our pristine ecosystem and help it thrive through various projects. To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we are thrilled to offer them the unique opportunity to adopt a clownfish, providing a distinctive and long-lasting symbol of their love for each other, and for Planet Earth.”

Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort has been recognised for its deep commitment to sustainability; it recently became the first property in southern Thailand’s Krabi province to receive a Gold Level Green Hotel Award, certified by the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion (DEQP), under the Thai Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment. It has also been named as a “Plastic Free Resort” by the Thai Hotels Association.
