Paul Brown and family to take on global sports challenge
Popular fitness industry identities Paul and Jacqui Brown, along with their nine year old son Ben, are about to embark on a global mission to promote sporting and healthy lifestyles.
Concerned over declining levels of physical activity among children and youth, the Gold Coast-based family aim to inspire young people around the world to participate in sport, exercise and active play while undertaking a global journey in which they will experience 50 sports in 50 weeks.
Commencing on 16th October, when they will play beach volleyball at Surfers Paradise with Olympic Gold medallist Natalie Cook, the family will experience 50 Sports in 50 Weeks at landmark locations around the globe, learning about each sport from 50 of the greatest athletes, champion teams, sporting legends and role models.
Travelling across Europe, the USA and Canada, Central and South America, Asia, Oceania, Africa, the Arctic Circle and the Middle East the Browns plan to engage with Olympic and world champions, accomplished athletes, passionate and inspiring enthusiasts, champion teams and governing associations.
They also plan to share their aim of inspiring young people with schools, fitness and sport through a series of 'Get it Right' seminars and family activity events.
Each champion mentor or team will take the Browns through an introduction to their sport with a training session or two so they can understand the fundamentals.
Wherever possible they’ll also experience the sport at a more competitive or elite level as a spectator, cheering on their heroes at major events.
Along the way they’ll visit schools, sports and health clubs with inspiring 'Get it Right' talks to kids and their grown-ups, designed to help families make sports and activity a regular part of life, along with healthy eating tips and playful games so the lessons last a lifetime.
Paul Brown, widely known for his Face2Face fitness program, expects that "such a unique and exciting project will create quite a buzz and we will harness the power of conventional and social media to help spread the word and increase the reach and effectiveness of our feel-good message to all corners of the globe.
The Browns will also be acknowledging the backing receieved from partners and sponsors offering logistical and financial support for essentials such as travel, accommodation and sports equipment while highlighting the work of selected child-oriented charities.
They also hope that media, public relations and communication experts will help them spread the activity message around the world trhough local, national and international media as well as social media.
