The Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA) is offering the opportunity to manage the Sydney Olympic Park Lodge, a unique accommodation venue located within the Newington Armory.

The heritage-listed Lodge can accommodate up to 98 guests in a range of flexible, family-friendly options. Meals are prepared and served in the historic dining hall and the Lodge itself is located within close distance of the rapidly evolving Blaxland Riverside Park and its award-winning riverfront Armory Wharf Café.

The Lodge has proved especially popular with school groups, able to accommodate four students per room in bunk-style accommodation with separate teacher and bus driver accommodation. The close proximity of the Lodge to a range of curriculum-based education courses for over 20,000 students per year, held within the Park, together with its affordable pricing structure, has seen significant rise in year on year bookings.

In the past few years the Sydney Olympic Park Authority has supported the Lodge in offering 'Stay and Play' packages for farming families in regional NSW, providing an affordable yet fun holiday for families bearing the brunt of one of the longest droughts in Australian history. This packages affordable accommodation with access to the Park's unrivalled range of entertainment venues, allowing families a much needed break from the land at an affordable price.

Newington Armory itself is one of the Park's under-the-radar attractions. Covering 40 hectares of historic buildings amongst woodlands, wetlands and parklands adjacent to the Parramatta River, the Armory is also home to a diverse range of attractions.

The Armory Gallery boasts the largest hanging wall in Sydney and its exceptional exhibition space plays host to a diverse range of exhibition, ranging from traditional photo and art exhibitions to cutting-edge installation art, for which the Galleryâs open space is well suited.

Other activities available within the Armory precinct and the adjacent Blaxland Riverside Park include Segway tours, bike hire, disc golf, visits to the studio's of artists working within the Park and of course the full range of Park activities are located close at hand.

More than nine million people visited Sydney Olympic Park's outstanding sports and entertainment venues are last year: including Acer Arena, ANZ Stadium, Sydney Showground, the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic, the Athletic, Hockey and Archery Centres, the various restaurants and conference event venues all lead their respective fields and contribute to the Park's reputation as Australiaâs premier event precinct.

Playing host to these millions of visitors are the Accor group's four hotels, the Pullman, Novotel, Ibis and Formule 1, with work due to start soon on a Quest Serviced Apartment complex. Among this well known accommodation the Sydney Olympic Park Lodge is another under-the-radar attraction.

Newington Armory was the former Royal Australian Navy Armament Depot at Newington, on the Parramatta River. Handed over prior to the Olympics, this 50 hectare heritage-listed precinct today forms part of the Park and is a focus for leisure activities.
