read moreThe Australian Sporting Alliance for People with a Disability (ASAPD) launched their new website this week at the 2022 National Sports Convention in Melbourne.
The initial launch of the ASAPD website will facilitate a central place for the sport sector to access information and resources relating to inclusive sports for those with a disability, impairment, or limitation.
The launch of the website is part of the strategic plan of the ASAPD, and the Alliance has set its sights on becoming the ‘go-to’ authority for information. This website aims to support a one voice strategy, thereby driving better outcomes for the nine members of the ASAPD.
Robyn Smith, ASAPD Chair notes “working with my colleagues in ASAPD to drive inclusion of all abilities into mainstream sport in Australia is the shift needed to change the way we support all people with disability to access sport.
“The mission of the ASAPD is to ensure ‘all Australians have an opportunity to engage in sport and physical activity in a welcoming and inclusive environment’ and for the first time, as an alliance, we can share our collective expertise and capabilities to make this a reality.”
“Collaboration among the nine National Sporting Organisations for people with a Disability, delivered through the ASAPD brand aims to facilitate inclusive sport and physical activity for Australians with a disability.”
The nine National Sporting Organisations for Disabilities (NSOD) involved represent lead organisations whose participant numbers, members and volunteers involve millions of people across Australia, and include Blind Sports Australia, Deaf Sports Australia, Disability Sports Australia, Disabled Wintersport Australia, Paralympics Australia, Riding for the Disabled Association Australia, Special Olympics Australia, Sport Inclusion Australia, and Transplant Australia.
ASAPD has been led by this oversight group over the last 12 months. There have been many successful outcomes, and a key development is the growing awareness of the brand and the benefits it provides to the NSODs. The one voice strategy has highlighted efficiencies and respect for the ASAPD vision, mission and objectives.
Since establishment, over a year ago, ASAPD worked to build a foundation for the brand awareness and attention, with success through the use of social media and NSOD communications.
Now with the website launched, the one voice of the collective will be amplified and accessible by all Australians, as a go-to source of information in inclusive sport and physical activity.
