Designed by Peddle Thorp Architects, the facility will feature a 50-metre, eight lane pool; leisure, toddler and learn to swim pools; a children’s aquatic play zone; two large waterslides; a hydrotherapy pool, sauna and steam room; a 24/7 gym and group fitness rooms and wellness suites.
The facility, located at Craigieburn ANZAC Park on the Corner of Aitken Boulevard and Central Park Avenue, will offer a range of activities catering for all abilities through the 50 metre flexible water space, water slides, water play area, gym, steam room and spa.
When open it is expected to attract more than 600,000 visitors a year supported by a staff team of 140.
Funding for the facility has come from a variety of sources including $9.1 million from the Australian Government, $3 million from the Victorian Government, $17.3 million from Hume City Council, $5.7 million from Stockland Pty Ltd and $360,000 from Lend Lease.
The Federal Government’s investment has come from the National Stronger Regions Fund.
Mayor of Hume City Council Helen Patsikatheodorou recently explained “Splash will be more than a destination; it will be an experience for the whole family.
“Whether it be reaching speeds of 50km/hr down our waterslides, getting active in our 24/7 gym or learning to swim in our pools - there will be something for the whole family.
“The new aquatic centre is Council's biggest ever project, we're thrilled to see the project progressing and coming together.”
Hume City Council completed a $15 million redevelopment of the Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre in 2015.
Hume City Council has recently produced a lavish electronic brochure about the project which can be viewed by clicking here.
