read moreAustralia’s oldest conservation organisation, the National Trust of Australia (NSW), has announced the appointment of Debbie Mills as its new Chief Executive.
Currently the Chief Executive of the Foundation & Friends of Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens, Mills comes to the Trust with many years experience in both the corporate and not for profit sectors.
Revealing the appointment, National Trust Australia (NSW) President Clive Lucas stated “Debbie met the agreed criteria for the position at a superior level and demonstrated that she has the professional standards, necessary experience and personal qualities required for the position of CEO National Trust Australia (NSW).
“We are confident that Debbie will advance and optimise the Trust’s position as the trusted and leading independent guardian of Australia’s built, cultural and natural heritage and defender of our sense of place in our ever changing world. We very much look forward to her joining us.”
Looking forward to her new role, Mills stated “since a young age I have had a passion for conservation and protection - whether that be our built or natural environments, our heritage, our native wildlife or domestic animals.
“I am very fortunate that after a career in the corporate world, I was able to align my career path to my personal passion and from commencing as a Director with an animal welfare charity to CEO of Foundation & Friends of the Botanic Gardens and now to CEO of National Trust of Australia (NSW).
“I was immediately attracted to the opportunity the National Trust of Australia (NSW) presented, to be part of such an important organisation that advocates and protects our built heritage and natural environments, seeks to engage and educate the community on the importance and significance of our heritage and to garner their support for the ongoing protection of our heritage.
“It is a wonderful and unique opportunity that has been afforded to me and I am greatly looking forward to working with the passionate and skilled volunteers, staff and members of the National Trust.”
Mills replaces retiring Chief Executive Brian Scarsbrick and will take up the role on August 14th 2017.
