The exhibition event will see Jim Courier (former world No.1), and Alicia Molik (former world No.8) and special guests, former professional tennis player and commentator Casey Dellacqua and former world No. 1 Ash Barty, take to the court for a doubles match. Then, Myer Ambassador Kris Smith will try his hand at tennis against some legends of the game.
The custom made court will be positioned on Bourke Street Mall in front of Myer’s iconic Flagship Melbourne store with the event inviting Mastercard card holders, MYER one members, VIP guests, Mastercard priceless competition winners and all Melburnians to attend. Lucky winners on the day will be given the opportunity to have a hit against some tennis greats and win Myer gift cards.
Mastercard Ambassador Alicia Molik shared “Tennis has the power to bring people together. Mastercard and Myer have created this Priceless experience for locals to give everyone in Melbourne the chance to feel a part of the finals. Come down and see me, and have some fun.”
Geoff Ikin, Chief Customer Officer, Myer notes “our main objective is to bring fun and footfall back to the city, and with tennis fever alive it gives us the perfect opportunity to partner with Mastercard to close off the summer of tennis in style. Together we’re bringing some of our most iconic Australian tennis’ legends to our most iconic retail precinct, just like our annual Myer Christmas Windows, this event is set to be another unforgettable Melbourne moment.”
Richard Wormald, Division President, Australasia, Mastercard added “The past few years have been challenging for retail businesses — as foot traffic into central business districts throughout the country has been reduced. The summer of tennis in Melbourne is iconic for both Australians and people right around the world, and in partnership with Myer, Mastercard is bringing excitement and footfall back to Bourke Street. Both partners look forward to seeing some beloved tennis greats having a hit.”
Supported by Yarra Trams and City of Melbourne, the experience requires a free ticket which can be accessed at https://events.sproutix.com.au/event/match-in-the-mall-1dfvnt. Those who can’t make it down can stream the experience live at Myer’s Facebook Page.
