Michael Cassel Group appoints new head of Marketing and Communications
March 25, 2014

Michael Cassel Group has appointed Jill Colvin to the newly created position of Head of Marketing and Communications.

Announcing the appointment, Producer and Chief Executive Michael Cassel stated "we are thrilled to welcome Jill to the team.

"Jill brings a wealth of entertainment marketing experience to the group. Her experience in marketing, digital and new media, along with brand development and sponsorship, will be of significant value as we continue to grow and evolve."

In the new position Colvin will oversee the marketing and communications activity for the group, working closely with key partners, sponsors, tourism organisations and stakeholders. With the company's first foray, the acclaimed new production of Cameron Mackintosh's Les Misérables opening at Her Majesty's Theatre in Melbourne, Colvin will work closely with the production's appointed marketing and publicity agency, AKA Australia.

Colvin previously served as Sydney Festival's Head of Marketing, Communications and Digital Strategy, with responsibility for developing and implementing innovative strategies to achieve artistic and commercial objectives including brand positioning, audience development and the delivery of sales targets.

Throughout her 12 year tenure, Colvin worked closely with five Festival Directors; Leo Schofield, Brett Sheehy, Fergus Linehan, Lindy Hume and Lieven Bertels. Prior to her executive appointment, Colvin worked in both business development and marketing.

Most recently, Colvin worked with the Australian Chamber Orchestra as Acting Development Manager and Project Manager for the roll out of ACO VIRTUAL.

Colvin commented "I am thrilled to be joining Michael Cassel Group at this exciting time in its development. I'm looking forward to being a part of its future and working with the MCG team and its partners".

Jill Colvin is a passionate marketer and strategist with extensive experience in the arts and live entertainment, having spent her career developing innovative strategies across marketing, communications, digital, content management, media relations, project management, stakeholder management and business development.

Prior to escaping to the arts, she worked in the publishing and banking sectors, including five years at Citibank where she was part of the Total Quality Team before a stint in Mortgage Marketing.

Colvin serves on the board of Urban Theatre Projects and graduated from the University of Sydney with a BA in Art History.

The Michael Cassel Group was formed to produce and present prestige theatrical productions; to create and develop exciting new live entertainment experiences and to present marquee events and concert attractions.

The company exclusively represents theatre impresario Cameron Mackintosh and his productions in Australia and will Executive Produce the Australian premiere of Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed new production of Les Misérables opening at Her Majesty's Theatre, Melbourne in June.
