Maldives integrated tourist destination marks Global Wellness Day with array of activities
May 17, 2023

CROSSROADS Maldives, the Indian Ocean’s first and only multi-island, integrated tourist destination, will mark Global Wellness Day on 10th June 2023 with a full schedule of activities – including yoga, beginner classes for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Aerial Arts along with dance fitness classes and aqua exercise with the theme of this year’s Global Wellness Day being ‘Dance Magenta’.

First staged in 2012, Global Wellness Day is a worldwide initiative dedicated to promoting the benefits of physical, mental and spiritual health. Celebrated globally across thousands of locations and reaching over half a billion people, this is an empowering occasion that can inspire everyone to improve their wellbeing. This year, a three-hour livestream event will connect wellness seekers all around the world.

At CROSSROADS Maldives, a wide range of special sessions are being planned at its two award-winning resorts, Hard Rock Hotel Maldives and SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton, as well as at The Marina @ CROSSROADS, the destination’s 800-metre beachside boardwalk and lifestyle hub.

The theme of this year’s Global Wellness Day is #DanceMagenta, with a series of activities centred around the freedom and uplifting spirit of dance. The aim is to help people come together and discover the joy of dancing in three easy steps: 1. “Dance with your Body” (as a form of physical exercise); 2. “Dance with your Mind” (as a means of meditation); and 3. “Dance with Life” (incorporate dancing into all aspects of your daily routine). A #DanceMagenta class will be staged at The Marina @ CROSSROADS and is open to all guests.

SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton, the free-spirited five-star lifestyle resort, will stage a series of complimentary classes on Global Wellness Day. The activities start as the sun rises with “Morning Yoga” at SAii Beach Club, followed by uplifting “Dance for your Soul” sessions at Miss Olive Oyl, the Pool Bar and lawn.

Following the colourful #DanceMagenta class, guests can head back to SAii Beach Club for “Sunset Yoga,” before a highly spiritual “Dance with your Thoughts” experience and an “Evening Walk.”

After a “Healthy Dinner” at Miss Olive Oyl, the beachside Mediterranean seafood grill and bar, or Kinkao, the stylish Thai bistro, SAiiLanders are invited to end their day of wellness on an upbeat note with a “Detox Mocktail Party” with a live DJ.

At Hard Rock Hotel Maldives, the famous music-inspired beach resort, Global Wellness Day kicks off with “Morning Yoga” at The Pavilion, accompanied by healthy juice and booster shots – the perfect preparation for a “Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Beginner Class” at The Red Mat martial arts hub. An elegant “Aerial Arts Beginner Class” will then be staged, followed by “Dance Fitness” and “Water Exercise” sessions at the resort’s outdoor pool. Partners are then invited to experience a unique “Couple Stress Release Workshop,” and all guests can stay in shape with “DIY Body Buff” at the Rock Spa®, before attention turns to #DanceMagenta.

Tolga Unan, Managing Director of CROSSROADS Maldives shares “CROSSROADS Maldives is a haven of activity where all guests can unwind and feel the benefits of wellness – whether it’s physical fitness, mental wellbeing or spiritual healing. So, we are delighted to be part of the Global Wellness Day 2023 celebrations. By embracing the ethos of this important initiative and staging a series of dedicated classes, including #DanceMagenta, we can help every guest discover an activity to suit their personality and potentially kickstart a new healthy lifestyle.”

Nestled in the South Malé Atoll, just 15 minutes from Velana International Airport, CROSSROADS Maldives is a “one-stop, non-stop” destination where adventurous families from all around the globe can cross paths and explore a wealth of attractions, diverse dining, world-class wellness, specialty shopping and more, amid powder-soft sand beaches and shimmering seas. The heart and soul of the resort is The Marina @ CROSSROADS, an 800-metre beachside boardwalk which is lined with cool cafés, refined restaurants and upmarket boutiques. Environmental and cultural activities can be experienced at the Marine Discovery Centre and Maldives Discovery Centre.
