Life Saving Victoria advises of cyber attack

Life Saving Victoria has advised it was the target of a cyber attack on 28th November 2023.
The organisation employs more than 500 staff and their lifesaving clubs have more than 37,000 members. LSV works with communities, educational institutions, government agencies, businesses and the broader aquatic industry.
The organisation contacted all impacted by the breach by direct email and provided advice on how to limit the risk of harm.
According to the ABC, LSV said the incident involved a server being subject to unauthorised access "by malicious actors".
Life Saving Victoria Chief Executive Catherine Greaves said immediate steps were taken to contain the database and added "we also immediately commenced investigations to determine what information may have been subject to unauthorised access.
"The extent of the personal information is limited and does not pose a serious threat to the individuals."
"We have also reported the incident to the Office of the Australian Information Commission and the Australian Cyber Security Centre.
"LSV would like to express our disappointment that the situation has occurred and we sincerely regret any inconvenience this may have caused."
