read moreThe latest grant round for the Aboriginal Ranger Program has allocated up to $13 million to support new and emerging ranger programs with the funding part of an $83 million Western Australian Government investment which has created more than 650 ranger jobs on Country since 2017.
The Development Fund is targeted at groups with aspirations to start a ranger program or in the early stages of operating one.
The Round 7 grants include up to $150,000 for planning and development, with large grants of more than $150,000 on offer for ranger operations.
Round 7 is the final allocation of funding from the Development Fund, with $10 million allocated last year.
WA Environment Minister Reece Whitby advised "this is a highly successful program proven to benefit both individuals and communities. Research shows for every $1 invested, the Aboriginal Ranger Program creates approximately $3 worth of social, economic, cultural and environmental value.
"The Development Fund supports and empowers Aboriginal organisations to help build strong foundations for longer-term ranger programs.
"I encourage Aboriginal organisations to apply for this funding to help new and emerging ranger groups and continue to make our communities stronger."
Eligible Aboriginal organisations have until 9th October to apply. For more information, visit dbca.wa.gov.au/aboriginalrangerprogram
