Kiwi event conference set to inspire

Kiwi event conference set to inspire
May 15, 2012

A group of internationally acclaimed event industry leaders will be converging on Wellington in August, sharing their expertise and advice as part of dedicated events conference Eventing the Future.

Organisers are extending an invitation to event professionals to participate in New Zealand's leading industry conference. Eventing the Future brings together many leaders within the the international events industry in an inspiring two day conference on 1st and 2nd August 2012.

Organisers have teamed up with Wellington tourism, arts and event promoters, to provide a top programme of conference related events and packages. Highlights include a behind-the-scenes visit to Weta Cave, excellent deals on accommodation, superb catering, avant-garde entertainment, and a chance to be hosted in one of the capital's newest waterfront venues, Te Wharewaka.

This is the 12th annual Eventing the Future conference, the official conference of the New Zealand Association of Event Professionals and organisers promise that the line-up of speakers and innovative programme will provide a global perspective on festivals and events.

SGL Group consultant Anne Hindson, who has been developing the programme over the past year with colleague Peter Burley, explains "participants will be stimulated, challenged, entertained and educated by a range of highly respected professionals, practitioners and personalities sharing ideas on the latest issues.

"Industry professionals share many same challenges and opportunities; how to attract and inspire audiences, how to manage social media, how to appeal to sponsors and funding groups, how to mitigate risks, how to future proof successful event formulas. This event provides a unique chance to engage in a one-stop, comprehensive, dedicated event professional development course."

Paul Gudgin, former director of the internationally acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe Festival, is a key speaker. Gudgin will talk about his role as director of one of the world's leading festivals, as well as his work as a consultant for Festivals and Events International. Paul will also work closely with groups of conference delegates to discuss specialist topics including the power of outdoor events, and the potential for festivals to be economic generators and to assist in social regeneration.

There is a strong emphasis on networking and interactive sessions, and over the course of the two day programme there will be many opportunities for delegates to get 'up close and personal' with a range of like-minded professionals to discuss issues relevant to their field of interest.

International guests will be joined by a number of national industry professionals to offer informative, intelligent and interesting overviews of specific events and unique challenges. Sponsorship, leadership, marketing, legal challenges, culpability and flexibility in the face of adversity are just some of the subjects that will be discussed in break-out groups with speakers and facilitators from within, and outside of, the events industry.

Hindson adds "the conference provides a chance for delegates to meet a number of key industry colleagues, sponsors and funding professionals; to be inspired by a range of presenters and perspectives, to learn about the latest issues and best practices, to share ideas and experiences, to expand their knowledge and recharge their creative spirit. It provides the impetus and inspiration for improved events here in New Zealand, and further afield."

Delegates who register before 16th July receive an 'early bird' discount and there are special deals for the or more participants from a single organisation.
