With a strong focus on building grass roots participation, the conference, being held in Melbourne from Wednesday 19th to Friday 21st July is a must for sport, government and the education sectors that want to understand how to grow participation in local communities and what facilities are needed for the future.
The focus of the Convention is on ‘Global Thinking and Locally Led Delivery’, focussing on encouraging more people to be active, recreate and participate in community sport. The keynote speakers will be representing Australia, New Zealand, England, Asia and Canada, sharing their future direction, priorities and success so that we can convert our local challenges into opportunities.
With 80+ speakers from government, sport, education, not-for-profit organisations and the commercial sectors, the National Sports Convention 2017 is presenting the greatest in-depth quality speakers in Australia to share ideas and solutions to the challenges of growing community participation.

The National Sports Convention will also be featuring the National Football Conference, site tours and sport and recreation-focussed exhibiton and:

• Collaborator Networking Wednesday 19th to Friday 21st July
In addition, the Friday afternoon will feature the Community Sport think-tank at which leading policy makers will join key speakers, for an open and frank session on how Australia can grow participation.
Joining the Panel will be Ned Coten, Chairman of Basketball Australia; Jason Linnane, General Manager of Singleton Council; Glen McGoldrick, Chief Executive of SportsTG, Dr Andi Diamond, Chief Executive of City of Monash as well as speakers Jennie Price, Kate Palmer and Jerril Rechter.
Commenting on the Convention, Rechter stated “VicHealth is proud to be a key collaborator of the National Sports Convention 2017, an event which brings together the government, sport, education, not-for-profit and commercial sectors to share ideas and learn from global experts.
