The elevation to Silver was announced at the Australian LGBTQIA+ Inclusion Awards held at the venue on Friday, 31st May.
The Pride in Diversity Australian Workplace Equality Index is the definitive national benchmark on LGBTQIA+ workplace inclusion and comprises the only large, national employee survey designed to gauge the overall impact of inclusive initiatives on organisational culture as well as identifying and non-identifying employees.
Driven by ICC Sydney’s internal LGBTQIA+ employee resource for diversity group, The Same Same Collective, and underpinned by its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy, this accreditation highlights ICC Sydney’s best practice approach to fostering an inclusive workplace.
ICC Sydney Chief Executive and Group Director – Convention Centres, ASM Global (APAC), Geoff Donaghy said the accolade was welcome recognition of the team’s expanded commitment to creating an inclusive environment for its workforce, clients and visitors.
Donaghy noted “From the outset, we have strived to ensure ICC Sydney is a place where every team member and visitor to arrive through our doors is respected, treated with courtesy and warmly welcomed. It is gratifying to see our inclusive culture recognised in Pride and Diversity’s Australian Workplace Equality Index.
“ICC Sydney achieving the Silver Tier benchmark is a first for Australian conventions centres – and reaffirms our team’s dedication to continuing to meet the highest national standards with regards to workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion.”
ICC Sydney Director of Human Resources, Luke Fleming said the submission into the 2024 Pride in Diversity program was a rigorous process for the team.
Fleming shared “ICC Sydney’s Same Same Collective’s work is to be commended in helping us to reach the next level of inclusive practices. The application was comprehensive and included engaging our active LGBTQIA+ employee network to identify strategies to further raise the bar for LGBTQIA+ inclusion.
“From increasing visibility and support for transgender and gender diverse team members, to creating awareness and education opportunities focused both internally and externally to support our clients in delivering events - our team thoroughly audited our practices to remove any barriers to diversity and inclusion.”
