ICC Sydney secures AIPC Innovation Awards for commitment to innovation

International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) has been awarded two prestigious accolades this week at the International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC) Congress held in Budapest, Hungary.
The venue was named the overall winner of the AIPC Innovation Award which recognised ICC Sydney’s new one stop destination for digital event solutions – Connect Hub.
Meanwhile, the AIPC Future Shapers ‘EventShaper’ team, including ICC Sydney’s senior team members, Mathew Haynes, Senior Manager, Live Events, who developed the original solution concept, together with Sandra Rae, Senior Manager, Public Relations, among other representatives from convention centres across the globe, was recognised for presenting a top new client portal platform — addressing a common industry challenge.
ICC Sydney Chief Executive, Geoff Donaghy, praised the venue team’s commitment to driving innovative solutions and sharing them via AIPC’s global platform.
Donaghy advised “our people’s commitment to innovation, investment in upskilling and training, while consistently anticipating and prioritising our clients’ event needs has ensured ICC Sydney remains at the fore of audio visual technical delivery whether events are held in person, virtually or a hybrid of the two.
“We are immensely proud to have a culture that encourages our team of professionals to implement highly impactful innovations, such as Connect Hub, that underpin the success we deliver for our clients every day. Our congratulations also go to VIPARIS that was selected as the People’s Choice Innovation Award.

Their outstanding achievements as part of the EventShaper team was awarded alongside Team Optimum, is a testament to their diligence, collaboration and best-practice management methodologies.”
Director of Audio Visual Services at ICC Sydney, Brian Nash welcomed the recognition for the team driving Connect Hub’s broad reaching digital solutions.
“Connect Hub was born out of our team’s agility and dedication to working with clients to ensure event success in these modern times of evolving operating conditions. Through Connect Hub we have future-proofed events of all types by taking traditional speaker preparation to the next level for both onsite and online speakers, including a dedicated media studio for broadcast events, a video edit suite, digital signage management and digital event platform design and delivery. Managed by ICC Sydney’s audio visual experts, the venue’s customisable digital event platform, ICC Sydney Connect, provides an end to end solution for managing hybrid events,” Nash said.
Led by AIPC Chief Executive Sven Bossu and an international taskforce including ICC Sydney Director of Communication, Corporate Affairs and Social Responsibility, Samantha Glass, the AIPC Future Shapers program supports the development of high performers within the AIPC community. Participants are senior managers with proven leadership skills who are looking for a learning opportunity with practical outcomes.
