Hornsby community invited to offer input on initiatives to boost tourism

Hornsby Shire Council is inviting community to have their say on the draft Destination Management Plan 2025–2030 which sets out a strategic vision to grow and enhance the Shire’s visitor economy over the next five years.
The draft Plan outlines a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing visitor experiences, increasing visitation, growing visitors’ average length of stay, boosting local spending, and raising the Shire’s profile as a unique and attractive destination.
It is built around four key destination pillars – river, rural, parks and bushland, and towns and villages – and provides a framework for collaboration between Council, local businesses, and government agencies to deliver practical outcomes.
Hornsby Shire Mayor Warren Waddell said the draft Destination Management Plan is a welcome step forward in shaping the future of tourism in the region and called on local businesses to get involved.
Mayor Waddell advised “we’re inviting cafés, restaurants, accommodation providers, tour operators and other local businesses to help us bring this vision to life. By working together, we can create a stronger, more vibrant visitor economy that benefits the whole community. This Plan is a starting point, and its success depends on collaboration and shared commitment.”
The draft Destination Management Plan 2025–2030 is available for public review until Sunday 31st August 2025. Feedback will help refine the Plan and shape the future of tourism in the Shire. View the Plan and make a submission at YourSay Hornsby.
