read moreAn employee at the Helensburgh Memorial Pool in NSW has been sacked after being caught peeping into a women's shower area through holes in a wall at the facility.
Following the incident, which occured in mid-April, the 59-year-old Wollgongong City Council staff member was also arrested and charged by NSW Police.
Police said other Council staff found a number of holes in a wall of the female change room at the Helensburgh local pool earlier this year and that the male staff member had allegedly been seen peering through the holes.
Police said it was unclear how long the holes had been at the Pool, but they have since been filled in.
Wollongong City Council said in a statement that it had been contacted over "a potential breach of the Code of Conduct by a staff member at Helensburgh Pool".
The statement explained "Council immediately investigated the matter (and) as a result the staff member's employment with council was terminated and the matter reported to NSW Police and the ombudsman."
The man has been charged with five counts of peeping and prying and granted conditional bail.
He is due to appear in court on 17th May.
