Foo Fighters breaks nib Stadium attendance figures

Having played to large crowds throughout their current Australian and New Zealand tour, just under 32,000 people attended the Foo Fighters concert at nib Stadium on Sunday night (8th March), making their concert the highest attended event ever at Perth’s rectangular stadium.
Commenting on the crowd, VenuesWest Chairman Graham Partridge OAM stated “this is the largest number of patrons to attend nib Stadium and I commend this great effort to all the floor staff, security, the venue response team and event and food staff for making it a great success.
“There were very few instances where security was required … a testament to our highly organised and capable events team.”
Due to the size of the event and the number of tickets sold, over 280 security personnel were in attendance to ensure a safe and positive experience for all patrons.
Partidge added “it is fantastic that we have been able to work with Frontier Touring to bring one of the world’s most popular music groups to Perth.”
This is the second time that the Foo Fighters have played at nib Stadium after drawing a crowd of 29,329 in 2011 and VenuesWest was delighted the band and Frontier Touring chose the venue once again.
Frontier Touring Chairman Michael Gudinski stated “it is no huge surprise to hear that the Foo Fighters have smashed nib Stadium’s capacity record.
“The Sonic Highways Tour of Australia and New Zealand has seen the Foo Fighters lift the bar yet again on touring in this part of the world.
“Few artists can fill stadiums these days and even fewer can deliver a show of the quality and intensity of the Foo Fighters. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with one of the greatest, if not the greatest live rock band in the world."
With a unique stage configuration facing across the pitch towards a new state-or-the-art East Grandstand, nib Stadium has proven to be the perfect venue to host a stadium show.
In 2013, the Western Australian Government invested $95 million into the redevelopment of nib Stadium, which included the construction of the eastern and southern grandstands, as well as the installation of new electronic scoreboards and a vision screen. In sporting mode, the venue’s capacity is 20,299.
Partridge concluded “it is our priority to ensure that nib Stadium, Western Australia’s premier rectangular sports and entertainment venue, delivers a diverse range of quality sporting and music events.”
