read moreIn 2020, Floriade has been reimagined with Canberra’s annual spring celebration moving from its traditional home in Commonwealth Park to being experienced as a mix of virtual and in-person experiences across Canberra’s suburbs and screens.
Canberrans will be able to celebrate the change of seasons safely while public health restrictions are in place. The Floriade: Reimagined horticultural team and more than 90 community groups have planted one million bulbs and annuals will create a tulip trail through the ACT’s suburbs and city.
The event will be critically important to many local businesses. Many hospitality and tourism businesses have been hit hard by the summer bushfires and COVID-19. This year’s event is a great opportunity for Canberrans to get out and support local businesses right across the city.
From 12th September to 11th October 2020, Canberrans can enjoy a limited number of live events featuring workshops, talks, and fitness classes as well as on demand virtual experiences to keep gardens green and minds inspired.
Crowd favourites will include four live Let’s Talk sessions featuring local personalities chatting about topics ranging from gardening to food sustainability. The Sunday Sessions at Cockington Green and Lanyon Homestead will entertain the whole family with gnome painting, potting up workshops and live music.
This year’s festival not only marks flowers blooming to life after their winter hibernation, but also celebrates the community spirit and resilience that Canberrans continue to display.
Canberrans eager to explore the tulip trail must ensure they comply with physical distancing regulations and public health directions while viewing the blooms.
