May 23, 2012

FitEx, the recently rebranded and re-launched conference for the exercise industry in New Zealand, is set to host has a record number of sessions this year.

Fitness New Zealand Events Manager, Nathan Burrows says that the event will feature in excess of 100 sessions, explaining that "not only are there over 100 sessions, but with over half the presenters being brand new to FitEx, and all of the session being either new or updated, the conference promises to deliver on its byline - 'the Science & Business of Fitness & Exercise'.

"This year we have put a real focus on adding ensuring all sessions are based on the latest research, while also being highly applicable to use by exercise professionals and club managers.

"We have also introduced a series of new initiatives including a PT business breakfast, and master sessions for each broad topic area, so attendees and see multiple presenters in one session early on in the conference."

The conference will be held at the Grand Hyatt, Auckland on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November 2012. Pre-conference workshops will be held on Friday 23rd November.

Following the success of the 2011 GetNZ Active Conference, FitnessNZ announced that, from 2012, its industry conference will be expanded and re-branded as FitEx.

FitnessNZ Chief Executive Richard Beddie (pictured) explains "we wanted to expand (the conference) and take it to the next level.

"The very best conferences around the world incorporate an element of the latest science and research, and an essential element of this is to ensure this research is presented in a way that's highly practical and relevant to the exercise professionals attending, and untimely able to benefit their clients.

"We are fortunate to have partnered with some of the best research based education organisations in New Zealand, such as AUT University, and also able to bring in exercise and business gurus from around the globe to present to FitEx in 2012, so we are confident that the conference will continue to support the every growing fitness and exercise industry in New Zealand."

FitEx - the Science & Business of Fitness & Exercise is recognised by the NZ Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) for Continuing Education Credits (CECs).

It will also include presentation of the New Zealand Fitness Awards on the evening of Saturday 24th November.
