Final whistle nears for revamp of nib Stadium

Redevelopment of Perth's nib Stadium has reached is on time and on budget for hosting its first Western Force home game in late March.
Western Australian Premier Colin Barnett and Sport and Recreation Minister Terry Waldron recently provided an update on the development at the stadium, toured some of the new facilities and observed some of the ongoing construction work.
Premier Barnett explained "the transformation of nib Stadium has been eagerly awaited by soccer and rugby fans - the new Southern and Eastern stands will offer greater spectator comfort and better viewing
"The spectator experience at nib Stadium will be heightened significantly by this redevelopment, including provision of some of the best sightlines of any stadium in Australia.
"This project is on track for completion in March - on time and well within budget. The success of this revamp is a credit to the ... project team, BGC Construction and its sub-contractors."
Minister Waldron said the North East corporate suite had been completed, was fully operational and had been used for the last two Perth Glory A-League games.
He stated "on completion of the project, 20,500 people will fill the arena and be able to enjoy soccer, rugby league and rugby union matches; and special events at the stadium.
"All the East grandstand concrete seating platforms are in place and the installation of seating on the lower bowl has started."
Other milestones include:
80% of the structural steel to the East grandstand roof is completed
Erection of pre-cast concrete walls for the 'pods' containing the food and beverage and toilet facilities is under way
Footings for the new light towers completed.
The Perth Rectangular Stadium Stage 1 Redevelopment has a project budget of $95.14 million.
