read moreThe Chairman of Regional Facilities Auckland (RFA), Sir Don McKinnon, has announced the appointment of Christopher Brooks as RFA’s new Chief Executive.
Brooks, who has been Chief Executive of Melbourne’s internationally recognised Federation Square since January last year, replaces former RFA Chief Executive Robert Domm who resigned last year.
Commenting on the appointment, Sir Don explained “Chris was the leading candidate for the position from a very strong field identified through an Australasian executive search programme.
“Chris has an extensive and impressive background in a range of commercial businesses in the private sector and in the Victorian and Tasmanian state governments. These include as Executive Director for the Department of State Development, Business and Innovation for the Victorian Government, CEO of the Unidel Group, a specialist environmental, engineering and commercial consulting firm, and as Chief Executive of MyState Financial, Tasmania’s largest financial institution with assets over $AUS1.5 billion.
“Chris’ takes over at RFA as the organisation looks to build on its success to date. His commercial and public sector experience made him the stand out candidate for the role.”
Federation Square delivers more than 2,000 events for over 10 million people annually.
Brooks will begin in his new post on 16th March.
One of six council-controlled organisations, Regional Facilities Auckland (RFA) manages more than $1 billion worth of major regional facilities and landmark venues across Auckland including ANZ Viaduct Events Centre, Aotea Centre, Auckland Art Gallery, Auckland Town Hall, Auckland Zoo, Bruce Mason Centre, The Civic, Mt Smart Stadium, QBE Stadium, and Western Springs Stadium. Auckland Conventions, Auckland Live and Auckland Stadiums also form part of the RFA group.
