EEAA and Tourism Australia support rising industry stars
The Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) has announced the signing of a new partnership with Tourism Australia’s Business Events Australia unit as the inaugural Platinum Partner for the Association’s EEAA Young Stars Program.
The EEAA Young Stars Program was launched four years ago and provides a forum for mentoring and developing young leaders in the exhibition and events industry.
EEAA Chief Executive Joyce DiMascio said the Association looked forward to working more closely with Tourism Australia to support the rising stars of the industry and to provide a solid foundation for the future success of the sector.
DiMascio stated “we are pleased to welcome Tourism Australia, and in particular, Business Events Australia into our community.
“We value their investment in supporting the EEAA in our work to encourage the development of young talent in our sector.
“The future of our industry is in the hands of the young people who have chosen to join the Business Events sector and we must continue to support and encourage them if our industry is to grow and prosper.”
The Platinum Partnership was marked at a small ceremony at Tourism Australia’s offices attended by DiMascio and Tourism Australia Executive General Manager of Events, Penny Lion, as well as 2015 winner of the EEAA Richard Geddes Young Achiever Award, Daniel Condon, and EEAA Young Stars Committee Member, Jessica Ginn.
Lion said that Tourism Australia was committed to supporting EEAA after seeing first-hand the value of the work done by the Association.
Lio added “the Business Events Sector in Australia is an important driver of the economy and visitation. We need the industry to be in good hands both now and in the future and for this reason we decided to make this contribution.
“EEAA’s work in developing the careers of young people working in Business Events is most commendable and we are very pleased to support the Association through this partnership.
“I have seen first-hand the impact of the EEAA Young Stars Program and have met many of the participants so it is a great pleasure to be able to contribute towards its growth.” Ms Lion said.
Throughout the year EEAA delivers a range of events where rising stars have the opportunity to meet leaders from inside and outside the Business Events Sector. The Association also recognises the accomplishments of the under 30 year olds working within Member companies through the annual Richard Geddes Young Achiever Award that is presented at the EEAA Awards for Excellence ceremony, this year to be held on 30 November at the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney).
Award nominations are now open and employers are invited to nominate the high achievers.
