Jean Hailes Women’s Health Week is being held across Australia from 4th to 8th September 2023 with this year’s theme being ‘Grow your knowledge’, and aimed at supporting all women to make informed and healthy decisions with information that is easy to understand.
Jean Hailes Women’s Health Week is Australia’s biggest event dedicated to the health of women, girls and gender-diverse people in Australia with this year's campaign focussing on five concerns in women’s health: health checks, pain, hormones, mental wellbeing and nutritional advice.
Community and workplace events are being held nationally, and together with Jean Hailes’ free online activities and learning materials, the campaign aims to help women make well-informed choices when it comes to their health and wellbeing.
Each day of Women’s Health Week 2023 features a different focus area:
Day 1, Monday 4th September: Check me out – health checks at every age
Day 2, Tuesday 5th September: Pain Drain – endometriosis, pelvic pain, painful sex, period pain
Day 3, Wednesday 6th September: Hello Hormones – menopause, perimenopause, hormone myths
Day 4, Thursday 7th September: Making it Work – mental wellbeing and brain health
Day 5, Friday 8th September: Food for thought – nutritional advice

For this year’s Women’s Health Week, Deakin University are spotlighting health and wellbeing topics relevant to all women, girls and gender-diverse people. Women’s health can be complicated and females experience a range of unique health concerns that can be accompanied by a lot of assumptions, misinformation and even stigma which can stem from misunderstanding.
Deakin University are extending an invitation to join them either on campus or online for a special panel discussion with some impressive women from the Deakin community.

Hosted by two Wellbeing Ambassadors, their panel will share their lived experiences as they talk about how they maintain a balance between achieving their study and career goals while also making time for their health and wellbeing. Their speakers include (pictured above from left):
- Catherine Bennett – Alfred Deakin Professor and Chair of Epidemiology, School of Health and Social Development
- Jodie Satour – Associate Director Teaching and Learning, Senior Lecturer, Social Work, NIKERI Institute
- Spencer Perry – Assistant General Secretary, DUSA
- Dr Vivien Feniger – One of our valued resident doctors at Deakin Medical Centre Burwood.
