Bluesfest issues scam alert warning

Bluesfest issues scam alert warning
April 9, 2024

The organisers of Bluesfest Byron Bay have issued a scam alert, warning that they have “noticed an increase in fake pages, groups, and events claiming to be associated with our beloved Bluesfest.”

In a communication to the ‘Bluesfest Family’, they advise “we want to remind everyone that there is only one official Bluesfest Page” and to be aware that “we do not host live streams of our events. Any page or group offering live streams is not affiliated with us.”

Urging people to “take personal responsibility when using your credit card online (and to) always ensure you’re on the official Bluesfest website before making any purchases or donations”, it explains “we are actively reporting these fake entities to Facebook to protect our community.”

Organisers go on to advise people to “double-check the page or group you're interacting with is our official Bluesfest page …, report suspicious pages or groups directly to Facebook (and to) spread the word to fellow Bluesfest fans.

“The more aware we are, the less likely we are to fall victim to these scams.”

The communication concludes “remember, we can’t prevent scammers from attempting to impersonate our great festival, but together, we can stay informed and protect our community.

Thank you for your continuous support and vigilance.”
