read moreWith just under 50 days to go, AUSactive has announced its upcoming Million Moves challenge will now offer the Ballarat and Wollongong communities the opportunity to participate thanks to grant funding from the Australian Government managed by the Australian Sports Commission.
Million Moves, AUSactive’s flagship public movement campaign, commences on 1st September 2025, and runs for 21 days with a simple yet powerful goal: to encourage more Australians to move more often, in ways that work for them.
From 1st to 21st September, participants in Western Australia, Queensland and now regional Victoria (Ballarat) and NSW (Wollongong) will commit to 75 moves a day for 21 days, supporting the message that building healthy movement habits starts with small, sustainable steps.
The 75 daily moves could be any type of movement: big or small, seated or standing, high energy or low impact. Participants decide what works best for their body.
AUSactive Chief Executive Barrie Elvish said Million Moves was about getting the community moving together for a great initiative and advised “we’re on a mission to move the needle on one of Australia’s most alarming health statistics - that 75% of adults are not active enough to benefit their health.
“Million Moves is about showing people that movement doesn’t need to be complicated, expensive or intimidating. Whether it’s a walk, stretch, dance, or resistance band session - every move matters.”
Elvish added “as an Australian Sports Commission Play Well Affiliate Member, AUSactive has been successful in securing funding to support the rollout of the Million Moves program in Ballarat and Wollongong.
“This means, come September, we’ll have four states participating and most importantly getting more active.
“The countdown is on - and we’re calling on communities, councils, studios, and service providers across the four regions to pledge now and help us inspire a million moves and beyond.”
You can get involved in two simple ways:
Million Moves is one of several AUSactive initiatives aimed at increasing physical activity levels and building a healthier, more active nation - with local engagement at its heart.
