read moreTasmanian event organisers will be able to apply for funding of up to $5,000 to support COVID associated costs for events occurring through to November 2022, through the extension of the Event Ready Grant Program.
The Event Ready Grant Program is available to new and existing events that have or are in the process of developing a COVID-19 safety plan and are committed to attracting people from around Tasmania to their event.
The program was developed in response to the current COVID-19 impacted environment, which has seen an increase in expenditure for event organisers as they work to deliver COVIDSafe events.
It could include costs associated with engaging a professional to develop a COVID-19 safety plan, to purchase hand sanitisers, masks, signage, COVID-10 safety marshals or costs associated with COVID-19 safe messaging such as media and promotion.
Tasmanian Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Sarah Courtney advises “through Events Tasmania, we have committed an additional $300,000 for round two of the program, which has been extended to accept applications up until 30 June 2022, for events occurring up until 30th November 2022.
“For the last two years, event organisers across Tasmania have worked tirelessly to adjust to the challengers of COVID-19.
“The events sector has shown immense resilience, and found innovative ways to ensure Tasmanians can attend the unique and home-grown events that make this State so special.
“We recognise the importance of events in restoring visitation and stimulating the economy as we welcome visitors back to our State.”
The Event Ready Grant Program has been running since September 2020 and has been well received by the events community, with over 170 applications received to date and more than $759,000 provided in grant funding.
