AALARA sets up Safe Operation of Inflatables Sub Committee

AALARA sets up Safe Operation of Inflatables Sub Committee
February 4, 2022

In response to the deaths of six children while using a bouncing castle at the Hillcrest Primary School in Tasmania in December of last year and at the suggestion of several members and Board Directors, the Australian Amusement, Leisure and Recreation Association (AALARA) is inviting member nominations to be part of a new Safe Operation of Inflatables Sub Committee.

AALARA advise that the intention of the Safe Operation of Inflatables Sub Committee is the review the currently regulatory environment, benchmark international best practice and increase situational awareness with the view to improve safety outcomes with regard to the procurement and operation of these devices.

A statement from the Association advises “if you believe your experience and knowledge in the inflatables sector would be well suited to this AALARA Sub Committee, we would like to invite you to nominate to become a valued member of the ‘Safe Operation of Inflatables’ Sub Committee.”

The Sub Committee will be made up of regulators, engineers, inflatable owners and operators, key industry stakeholders from different states and territories, along with AALARA Board representation.

Nominations must be received by Friday 11th February.
