AALARA/ATPA advances trampoline arena code of practice

AALARA/ATPA advances trampoline arena code of practice
April 28, 2014

The Australian Trampoline Parks Association (ATPA), a sub-committee of the Australian Amusement, Leisure and Recreation Association (AALARA), has released a draft trampoline industry code of practice.

The draft Code of Practice for (the) Design, Manufacture, Installation, Operation, Maintenance, Inspection and Major Modification of Trampoline Parks aims to “provide a level of uniformity for the purpose of reducing potential hazards to patrons, court attendants, and spectators” and is now available for comment by interested parties, industry stakeholders and others.

The draft Code of Practice will also be discussed at the Trampoline Arenas Forum/ATPA round table at the AALARA Conference on the Sunshine Coast in May.

With a significant number of openings of trampoline arenas across Australia in the last two years, the subject of the cover feature in the March/April 2014 issue of Australasian Leisure  Management, leading industry operators backed the formation of ATPA, aiming to:

  • Develop an industry code of practice,
  • Maintain safety standards, and
  • To protect and promote safety in the industry.

With the support of AALARA, which has constituted ATPA as a sub-committee, the new Association, has completed the draft Code of Practice. Aided by AALARA members with experience in developing standards/codes of practice, the draft Code of Practice references the USA’s ASTM standard, adapting its requirements to Australian conditions.

To gain access to a copy of the draft Code of Practice and/or for more information on the AALARA Conference - being held from 13th to 15th May at the Novotel Twin Waters Resort, contact AALARA on 07 3807 3508, E: info@aalara.com.au
