read moreAustralian Event Awards have announced their 2015 finalists – with 77 national finalists selected across 20 categories, along with the 18 State winners.
Commenting on the award finalists, Craig Hassall, co-chair of the Awards’ Independent Industry judging panel and Chief Executive of Opera Australia, stated “the diversity of events and achievements amongst the finalists really exemplifies the strength of the nation’s events industry and justifies its international reputation.
“A number of the finalists in the achievement categories, for example, have been nominated for their work on international events and campaigns like the first European Games.”
Among the finalists, the country’s best business, community and regional events and industry achievements sit alongside some of the nation’s major festivals.
In the 10 Best Event Categories, finalists include an impressive array of events from across Australia.
This year, Vivid Sydney (Destination NSW), the Australian Open (Tennis Australia) in Victoria, Adelaide Writers’ Week, Byron Bay Bluesfest in New South Wales, and the Perth International Arts Festival have all gained finalist spots.
The City of Unley’s Double Shot Coffee Fiesta in South Australia, Glow Winter Arts Festival from the City of Stonnington in Victoria and regional events including the Argyle Diamonds Ord Valley Muster (Ord Valley Events) in the far north of Western Australia, the Jodi Lee Foundation’s SA Hiking Challenge and Buskers by the Creek, a Queensland music festival, have also been selected as finalists in the Awards.
At the business and corporate end of things, finalists include Mumbrella360 and the Mumbrella Awards by Focal Attractions in New South Wales, Grow by ANZ: The Keith Urban Experience & Jam Slam (Belle Laide Events) which took place in Victoria and New South Wales, and the generationYOU conference in Queensland.
In the Achievement Categories, finalists includeYakusan for their work on The Hendrick's Gin ‘Parlour of Curiosities’ at Spectrum Now Festival & Dark MOFO Festival 2015, Technick and The P.A. People, both for their contributions to the 2015 European Games, OzParty Events for their work on The Ultimate Race - Sydney, event staffing provider Event Workforce, venue discovery service The Venue Concierge, the College of Event Management, William Angliss Institute, Luna Park Sydney, Curzon Hall, Brand Events Australia and George P. Johnson Australia.
In the individual award categories, finalists were nominated by a broad group of organisations including Life Saving Australia, Event Planet, Westpac Group and Macquarie University.
The finalists announcement comes after the first round of judging completed by a selection of judges from the Awards’ Independent Industry Judging Panel.
Winners of the Australian Event Awards will be announced at an awards dinner at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf in Pyrmont, Sydney, on 17th November 2015.
