Workplace survey shows long work hours and long term industry commitment

September 8, 2013

With information collection still underway for the 2013 Sportspeople Workplace Survey, preliminary results are showing some interesting trends in the aquatic, fitness, recreation and sport workplace.

These include:

Chief Executives and Fitness/Aquatic Centre Managers travel the furthest to work;

75.6% of Personal Trainers rate their current position as their dream job or step towards their dream job;

87.5% of aquatic professionals plan to work in the industry long term; and

95% of sport industry chief executives work more than 40 hours per week with 42.5% working more than 50 hours per week.

To complete the Survey, people working in aquatic, fitness, recreation and sport jobs in Australia and New Zealand are being called upon to participate in research which maps employment and salary trends for the sector.

The 2013 Sportspeople Workplace Survey is managed by job board operator and recruitment agency Sportspeople and is supported by a number of key industry partners.

Consistent with all previous surveys, all responses to the 2013 Sportspeople Workplace Survey are confidential.

The 2013 Sportspeople Workplace Survey is open until 20th September 2013 and can be accessed at
