Developers of a new raceway in Sydney's west hope to have the venue open before the end of the year.

The 1.25 kilometre Luddenham Raceway, located between Penrith and Liverpool, is planned to be eight metres wide (10 metres wide down the straight) and feature significant elevation changes including a main straight that runs downhill, along with uphill hairpins and several crests.

Currently awaiting planning approval from Penrith City Council, the family owned and operated venture fulfils a vision to have such a facility for motor sports s and karting enthusiasts of all ages in Sydney.

When complete, the Raceway will include:

Track One, a 600 metre outdoor hire karting track / featuring a fleet of the latest rimo karts with state of the art timing and karting facilities to enhance driver enjoyment.

Track Two, 1,250 metre outdoor track to facilitate driver training activities, and a wide variety of other motor sports activities.

This facility will also feature state of the art timing systems, as well as track safety and lighting systems to enhance driver experience.

Track Two will be endorsed and support all of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) safety guidelines.

Introducing plans for the Luddenhma Raceway, Project Manager Simo Vukmirica explains "Luddenham is a unique and scenic location with undulating landscape to enhance track enjoyment.

"The property itself is a 100 acre property and home to an established olive grove which provides a unique backdrop and lovely photo opportunities.

"Comments from visitors from overseas to the property include that it is the most lovely location that they have ever seen for such a facility."

The venue is conveniently located 3o to 40 minutes west of the Sydney CBD, feeding off the M4/ M5 and M7 motorways with major arterial roads surrounding and feeding onto Luddenham Road.

The venue is closer to other major centres such as Parramatta, Penrith, Liverpool and the Macarthur Region.

Beyond the Raceway, Vukmirica adds that "paintball (will be) just another option for family fun on the property and will compliment the karting and motor sports acitivities offered."

Vukmirica also plans for the Raceway to be a location for driver safety training, adding that such training will "instill good driving practices in the young folk in our community, (something that) is very important to Luddenham Raceway.

"Driving is a sport that can be enjoyed from the young to any age, and teaching young children, good habits while having fun karting will set standards that they can carry through to adolescence and adulthood."
