VicScreen appoints digital games industry leader Lisy Kane to its Board
November 29, 2023

Games industry leader, Lisy Kane has been appointed to the VicScreen Board bringing over a decade of digital games experience to the state’s creative and economic screen development agency, which has been supporting digital games for nearly thirty years.

VicScreen President, George Lekakis shared “a respected leader in Victoria’s digital games sector, Lisy brings invaluable expertise that will support the state’s screen industry to continue to grow. I look forward to working together as we work towards cementing Victorias position as a global screen powerhouse.”

Kane is a skilled videogame producer, currently working as a Lead Producer for Kepler Interactive – the global publisher, game developer and creative organisation. Having worked at Kepler Interactive since 2022, Lisy has supported production on a slate of critically acclaimed games, including Scorn, Tchia, Pacific Drive and Flintlock.

Lisy acts as an advisor for the Kowloon Nights games fund, which is a global video game fund that puts creators first and champions independent developers.

Previously, Kane worked at renowned Melbourne independent games studio, League of Geeks. Her last role at the studio was Production Director, where she worked across standout tiles including Armello and Solium Infernum. During her time at League of Geeks, she was the recipient of the 2016 VicScreen Women in Games Fellowship and the 2017 Tim Richards Award.

Dedicated to championing inclusion and the upskilling of people who aren’t traditionally represented in games, Kane co-founded Girl Geek Academy in 2014. The academy is a social startup, focusing on advocating for and driving gender equality within the STEM sector, which aims to bring one million women and girls into careers in technology by 2030. As testament to Kane’s work, she was recognised by Forbes’ prestigious 30 under 30 list for Games in 2017.

Kane joins current board members Jenny Taing OAM, Liz Grainger, Leonie Morgan AM, Andrea Denholm, Mitu Bhowmick AM, Greg McLean, Tiriki Onus and President George Lekakis AO.

VicScreen’s Board is responsible for the agency’s governance, strategy and risk management, and approving funding decisions recommended by VicScreen’s committees and panels.

Minister for Creative Industries, Colin Brooks noted “With the Victorian digital games industry continuing to lead the nation, creating some of the world’s most popular games, I am delighted to welcome Lisy to the VicScreen board. As a leader in the industry, and a champion for women and girls in digital games, Lisy will bring invaluable knowledge and experience to the board for the benefit of Victoria's screen industry.”

VicScreen President, George Lekakis shared “a respected leader in Victoria’s digital games sector, Lisy brings invaluable expertise that will support the state’s screen industry to continue to grow. I look forward to working together as we work towards cementing Victorias position as a global screen powerhouse.”

Kane added “I have built my game development career here in Victoria with VicScreen being a pivotal main character on this journey. It’s an absolute honour to step into the space that Blake Mizzi (League of Geeks co-founder) has created for the videogames industry within the VicScreen Board. I’m thrilled to continue to support the ecosystem through this appointment and cannot wait to see what the future holds.”
