read moreMildura Sporting Precinct recently saw the completion of a 99-kilowatt solar PV system - saving up to $19,000 from the precinct’s annual electricity bill.
The solar PV system is expected to generate over 114,000 kilowatt hours of electricity each year, equating to about 15% of the precinct’s electricity consumption.
Largely funded through the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, the solar PV system is made up of 198 500-watt panels, significant electrical cabling and supporting electrical infrastructure to install additional solar PV in the future.
Recent completion of the new system means Mildura Rural City Council has now installed 890 kilowatts of solar PV on Council-owned buildings and facilities.
It puts Council on course to reach more than one megawatt of solar PV in 2025.
The new solar PV system is part of Council’s commitment to fully electrify all of its buildings and facilities by 2030 under its Towards Zero Emissions Strategy.
Council has been purchasing 100% renewable electricity for all of its buildings and facilities, including the MSP, since July 2021 through a Power Purchase Agreement.
