Palmerston North CBD high ropes course proves popular

A high ropes course in the CBD of Palmerston North has proved popular since its opening in January.
Located on Railway land between two main routes to and from the city the Manawatu Highwire course has been designed to service the needs of visitors, schools and corporate groups.
Course owners wanted to make the activity accessible for the local community, a place that blends with the natural features of the area and the dynamics of the local skatepark, one of the most interesting things about the course is that it allows the city to be experienced in a totally different way.
With nine elements the course offers both groups and individuals an opportunity to challenge themselves in a fun and safe environment.
The development needed approvals for use of the Railway Land Reserve and an agreement to lease the site near the skate park. It went through two rounds of public consultation, then resource and building consent processes.

Manawatu Highwire's elements were being built by designer and installer Karl Ratahi, who has created courses in many countries, with industrial abseiler Karl Boielle.
