Fast growing boutique gym, One Playground - renowned for its innovative approach to fitness and wellness - has announced the opening of its second wellness centre on Holt Street in Sydney’s Surry Hills, this Spring.

The new facility is being coined as an 'Urban Oasis' and serves as an extension of the existing One Playground fitness offering on Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills. The space will offer a  comprehensive range of wellness services to meet the community's growing demand for relaxation and rejuvenation amid the urban landscape.  

Dating back to the 1900s, the Holt Street building which was formerly a textile manufacturing warehouse will undergo a major transformation while preserving its heritage charm. The space focuses on elevated design, with the polished concrete floors, exposed timber beams and original brickwork creating a striking contrast against the modern elements of bespoke finished metal and architectural lighting features.

The end result will be a 750square metre wellness haven comprising a 20-bed state-of-the-art Reformer Studio, a semi-private Reformer Studio and an infrared heated yoga and Pilates studio. The wellness oasis will also include a recovery suite offering both traditional and infrared saunas, a cold plunge, magnesium shower and relaxation area.  

Claudia Howard, Head of Wellness at One Playground notes "this expansion represents our commitment to enhancing community wellness by providing a space where individuals can nurture their mind, body and spirit.

"Surry Hills has been in need of a wellness space where people can escape the hustle and bustle of busy city life, and focus on their health in a boutique atmosphere. We are excited to create a transformative space that blends heritage architecture with both traditional and contemporary wellness practices."

In addition to the core timetable, the 'Urban Oasis' will see the addition of a multitude of new classes designed to cater to diverse wellness interests, including breathwork, sound healing, meditation, hot yoga and hot Pilates.  

The launch of this new wellness centre represents a significant milestone for One Playground, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of their first club opening, also in Surry Hills.

The 'Urban Oasis' will be One Playground's fourth location within the area, reinforcing its position as a leader in the fitness and wellness space. Earlier this year, One Playground also opened a new reformer studio in Newtown. This announcement marks the second new facility to be opened by One Playground in 2024, with further locations to be announced soon.
