read moreA new high ropes attraction that takes adventurers through the treetops has opened at Lane Poole Reserve.
The Trees Adventure Park, located at the popular reserve about 100 kilometres south of Perth, offers visitors the chance to swing through the treetops on trapezes and flying foxes.
Located near the near Nanga Mill campground, the attraction allows people to move through the tree canopy through a network of rope bridges, flying foxes, trapezes and Tarzan jumps.
Officially opening the Trees Adventure Park on Thursday, Western Australian Environment Minister Albert Jacob said the high ropes course was developed from an unsolicited proposal and business plan submitted by Canopy Adventure Pty Ltd (trading as Trees Adventure) to the Western Australian Department of Parks and Wildlife.
Minister Jacob stated "the company came forward with a unique proposal and the department worked directly with them through the assessment and approval process to deliver an exciting new park experience.
"Lane Poole Reserve already receives more than 180,000 visitors each year. With attractions such as Trees Adventure Park and the recently upgraded visitor facilities provided through the State Government's Parks for People initiative, there are even more opportunities to attract visitors to the area."
Minister Jacob added that the course has been built around tree trunks rather than drilling through them, minimising the impact on vegetation and allowing native wildlife to move freely underneath, commenting "I encourage every adventurer who wants a physical challenge to visit Lane Poole Reserve and have a go at this enjoying this high ropes experience," the Minister said.
The attraction is suitable for children as young as four and all participants receive training before starting the course.
Under the Parks for People initiative, the Western Australian Government has invested $5 million to upgrade camping grounds and facilities at Lane Poole Reserve
