read moreHaving announced earlier this year that its Battlestar Galactica rollercoaster was to be replaced with a new ride by the end of the year, Universal Studios Singapore appears to be set to relaunch the attraction.
Acknowledged as the world's tallest duelling roller-coaster, Battlestar Galactica was launched as one of the signature rides of Universal Studios Singapore at Resorts World Sentosa in March 2010. However, the ride was plagued by problems and was closed indefinitely in July last year.
However, video from park guests uploaded to YouTube shows new carriages being tested on the ride’s track in the past week. The ride’s tracks, with its loops and turns, remain the same.
In response to an inquiry from Australasian Leisure Management, a spokesperson for Universal Studios Singapore says it is preparing for a relaunch of the ride with details expected to be announced shortly.
The Battlestar Galactica ride consisted of two roller coasters - Human and Cylon – one an inverted roller coaster track, the other a traditional seated roller coaster. Designed by Vekoma, the roller coaster trains were launched from their stations at high speed instead of the traditional chain lift.
