NBL 2024/25 season breaks all-time attendance record

NBL 2024/25 season breaks all-time attendance record
March 21, 2025

The 2024/25 Hungry Jack’s NBL Season has broken the National Basketball League’s all-time attendance record with the new record set in 40 less games than the previous, highlighting the League's incredible demand.

With the deciding Game 5 of the Championship Series still to come, a total of 1,129,449 fans have attended games throughout the regular season and finals, which surpasses the previous record of 1,127,033, which stood for 31 years.

There have been 54 sell-outs this season, after a sold-out John Cain Arena witnessed the Illawarra Hawks defeat Melbourne United 80-71 in Game 4 of the Championship Series on 19th March.

Sunday's Game 5 will decide the champion, with the Hawks hosting United at the WIN Entertainment Centre at 2:30pm AEDT, live on ESPN and Channel 10.

NBL Chief Executive David Stevenson noted “the NBL is the fastest growing sporting league in Australia and smashing our attendance record is further validation of the world-class entertainment product our competition has become.

“The fans are the lifeblood of the competition and are at the forefront of every decision we make. There would be no NBL without the fans, so I want to thank each and every one of them who attended a game this season and helped us create history. Your passion, dedication and commitment is unmatched.

“I also want to thank and highlight our clubs, who do an amazing job at elevating the game-day experience and connecting to their supporters in the best way possible.

“While we continue to set records, our ambitions remain high, and with some exciting announcements to come, we look forward to even bigger and better things in the future.”

The 2025 Hungry Jack’s NBL Championship Series continues on Sunday when the Illawarra Hawks host Melbourne United in the decisive game five of the best-of-five series at the WIN Entertainment Centre at 2:30pm AEDT.

NBL teams are located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Tasmania, Melbourne, New Zealand, Perth, Sydney, and Illawarra.
